I got 3 mollies, I don’t think I acclimated them long enough and when they went into the tank they went straight to the bottom and they are just sitting on the bottom. What do I do?

Hi, welcome to Reef2Reef!

Yes, acclimating mollies from freshwater to marine has to be done very slowly. I always put them in a tank of freshwater and acclimate them to seawater over 3 to 5 days. When I’ve tried to speed the process up, I end up losing some/most of them.

Really should have done more research on the topic before just giving it a go and needlessly killing them. Tons of threads/articles out there related to proper acclimation to saltwater

In the past , I acclimated close to four hours and added Tank water slowly as you are in essence going from zero salinity to at least 1.024

Oh - this is a marine aquarium forum, and mollies are frequently used to test for disease in marine tanks, so I assumed that is what you were doing. I can still help with freshwater disease issues.

Mollies can be pretty delicate in freshwater tanks - they do require some salt, a high pH and lots of vegetable matter in their diet.
