Hello everybody, I’m gonna setup a new JBJ 25gallon AIO, I need all the advice I can get we’re to put media in wich chamber etc, been researching and going to LFS around my area and I’m more confused than ever some say cycle with fish some say don’t do it etc. one of my local stores they have marko rock cycling for a couple of months and they sell it for 4.50$ a pound is that worth it? Or should I go just with the regular one and throw some bacteria and let it do its thing? Another thing what kind of light heater wave maker etc should I buy? Should I go second hand market or try to buy some less expensive but that do a good job? Thank you in advance.

Rock, sand, saltwater, heat and flow + bottle bacteria, 2 different ones better, wait 4-5 days, then add a fish or two.

Very simple. Me, I don’t even test ammonia any more, but feel free to do so.

It would probably cycle really fast with a couple pieces of the mako rock but it’s not necessary, i would just use normal bacteria and ammonia. And the fish stores are right, definitely don't cycle the tank with a fish in there.

What media do you have? Usually its like filter floss/sponge, carbon, and then bio balls or something.

I use the aqueon preset heater and like $20 wave maker, it doesn’t need to be fancy.
