Im about to pull the trigger on a new skimmer for a 65 Gallon tank build with a 30 gallon sump. Im looking closely at a Bubble Magus Curve 5 an Aquamaxx FC80 and a Reef Octopus Classic 110... I would appreciate some insight into the feature and design comparisions of these skimmers. -Or other recommendations. My system is a 65 Gallon Reef system with a 30 gallon sump. I would prefer an in sump skimmer thats quiet and easy to maintain. Thanks for advice in advance!

I have been using Reef Octopus skimmers for about 10 years and currently have 3 Reef Octopus skimmers running on different systems (including a Reef Octopus Classic 110). I have found them to be straightforward to setup, easy to maintain, and they just work. I have not used the Curve 5 or the FC80.

I started with the RO classic. I have been through almost every brand. I am now back with RO. I have 2 tanks with the RO Elite 150sss. Love the Varios pumps. It's also easy to get a replacement pump for the RO skimmers. Not so for most others.

I would choose the RO or the Aqua Maxx between the 3, probably both are on same, check the cost of impellers to see which one will be cheaper to maitain. I have a Aqua Maxx skimmer and the impeller is nearly 80 dollars.

I like this one a lot. Reef Octopus 110 SSS for 50-90 gallon tanks. Here's a review I put together:
