I had this acro on my frag rack for a week or so towards bottom of tank when I first got it and then moved it towards the top on a rock with high flow. Is it bleached, stn/rtn, or pest? Water parameters been very stable except a spike in alk this week:
temp: 77 degF
sg: 1.026
alk: 8.5 but did just spike up to 10.6
ph: 8.2
Am: .15
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 2.5
Cal: 414
Mg: 1370

I do WC every other week and vacuum sand. So after some thread searching, that may be the cause the problem? I have since moved it back to the frag rack and dimmed lights and I did a coral dip yesterday (Revive). The white side was facing the light more as it was mounted slightly leaning. What should I do?

Thanks for the info! Based on that, it could either be lighting or the alk swing. I'll keep doing wc's and leave it on the rack and hope for the best.

definitely necrosis. it's most likely a goner. SPS usually won't stop dying once it starts. Also the way it's dying you can't chop off the dead part and frag the living

The alk swing most likely did it. that's a big jump

I was afraid of that. I am still trying to figure out what caused the alk spike. It is always between 8.1 and 8.5 until last week. Any causes for that?

I believe the culprit is the alk swing
That’s a huge swing and hopefully you were able to figure out what caused it .

I recently lost a Incredible Hulk acro .
started to peel from the tip .
and the next day it was completely gone .
A few others I have always had issues with
Monti digi and another branching type of monti .
depends where I buy frags from . Which I think is bizarre.
alk hasn’t moved other than the daily consumption of 2ppm which is minimal .
I dose 12ml 2 part in the evening ..

40+ other acro frags are doing amazing

Could be a number of things..
How often do you test?
Do you have a doser on your tank?
Did you do a large water change with salt that has high alk?

It's 9mos old approx 40 gal total vol including sump. I do have a doser and check weekly. my water changes are 2.5- gal so not large. I use a hanah checker.

Make sure your doser isn't overdosing.
Also if your corals stopped growing for some reason, they'll consume less Alk so you might need to adjust your dosage.
There's many factors it could possibly be

I'm doing small water daily water changes now and I wasn't needing to dose much previously but am going to reduce the dose amt to help me get back in proper levels.
