Now, is it weird that my cardinals are super territorial of my carpet anemone? My clowns would go towards it like they wanna host it, but the bangaii pair wont let em anywhere near it
Yep, totally normal. Mine defend their area when the male is carrying or getting ready to carry.

Anytime! Each fish you breed is one less taken from the ocean!
Very much so... going to set up a coral frag system soon that I'm planning into plumbing in a few tanks for the little guys

Yeah I wish more of us would take up breeding. But I understand, even the easiest ones take a fair amount of work.

That's true. It's been a journey. I'm just glad that I feel like I've had decent success so far quickly. First batch didnt make it before. Could have been me, could have just been a weak batch. But to have only 1 die in the 2nd batch and to have the 3rd batch already eating after a few hours seems pretty good to me. Hell if one lives, I'tll be a win

I wish I was closer. Did you provide a urchin like structure for them to hide in and feel comfortable? Many use a small rock with zip ties to simulate a urchin, the babies like it.

I used to use pvc caps painted black with holes drilled into them having black cable ties poking out the holes. Now I just use a fake plant I found on amazon for a few bucks. It actually works well with my breeder box setup because they float upside down. They love em and cant get caught in them.

UPDATE: I took the majority of the big batch of babies to the shop yesterday. Received 65$ for 10 since they are still a little on the smaller end but I feel like it was more than reasonable and definitely worth continuing for the long haul. I'm looking into setting up a 30 or 40 gallon separated from my main DT due to increased nitrates. Tested my water a week ago and they were at 300 due to the excess baby food amongst all other critters. Performed several 20% water changes to get back to 20 ppm. The 30 or 40 gallon I'm looking into will contain dividers to hold the larger batches until they are bigger. I think itll land better success rate in transfer and at the shop. Male delivered batch 3 last week and is already carrying batch 4.

How cute is that wow awesome !!!
i have a couple and they bread but usually the Babies get eaten by the other fish.
anyway about 6 month ago one of the babies escaped into my sump and that is connected to my refuge part. It made it all the way there without being hurt so I called that single guy Houdini lol
Anyway I just gave little baby shrimps what I warmed up prior to feeding he is now 6 month and joined the main tank. The parents leave him be. He is hiding and getting protected by my elegance what also gets hosted off and on by a clown couple. So far so good. Houdini is eating with the big boys but don’t like pallets never really eat the fish eggs so mysis it is

Thank you, it's super exciting, helps pay for the hobby, and is good for the wild populations of the fish (even though I'm just one new breeder) which makes me pretty stoked! My clowns are going at it tonight, so I'm going to look into what I can do to maybe have success with them

If you're able to catch the male with babies in his mouth, I'd definitely recommend getting a breeder box off amazon for cheap and raising them. My babies never cared for pellets either, but the live baby brine to fish eggs and frozen baby brine, to adult brine worked well for me

I love that idea but I don’t think I m able to catch him I have lots of hiding places. I actually had a moment where I thought I m buying a hole new tank catch both and let them cardinals be the only pair in there but then I also go to Germany and stay for 3-4 weeks at the time. Not so great having 2 tanks running ..... i m to OCD to let anybody touch my tanks lol
