Hello all! I've been into fish keeping for a long time, I've had freshwater tanks on and off all my life. Most recently I had a 75g Community tank. Due to some remodeling in my house, I have been fortunate enough to be able to get a larger tank, and have decided to move into saltwater.

I just today purchased a unique aquarium... a 36w*24d*36h (130 gallons)... I know that the height of this tank is going to pose some challenges, but I think it'll make my tank stand out from some others. I look forward to documenting my build progress over the next several months and to get input from this community.

Welcome! Glad you joined.

Years ago I had a pair of hexagon tanks that deep, and yes it does give striking aspect. Suggest keeping away from any direct sunlight because keeping up with algae and rockwork cleaning are harder. Leave extra room all around aquascape because deeper cleaning is harder than shallower tanks. There are extra long tongs out there if you look around.

This is a great reference book type article I still refer:

Algae invading algae: Have you had unwanted algae in your good macroalgae?

  • I occasionally have unwanted algae in my macroalgae.
