I have a home pelican filtration system that runs through my whole house . It’s also runs through a UV light and it supposedly kills 99 percent of germs. Would this be good enough water to mix salt with for my aquarium?

Does it have a RO/DI filter set up in it? If so, then yes. If not, it's up to you. Some people use tap and some don't. I don't use tap because to me it's not worth the risks, but again, up to you.

You can get a tds meter from amazon for about $12, if its close to 0, then it should be good. The tds (total dissolved solids) is the important detail.

Those whole home systems aren't going to work on their own for a saltwater tank. Germs aren't the concern and zero TDS water isn't healthy for drinking.

0 TDS water is a good start but it doesn’t measure all the things in water that we’re concerned about mainly chloramines. If you have 0 TDS and also get a total chlorine test and that’s at 0 then its probably ok. The chlorine tests can be expensive and you wanna make sure it tests chlorine and chloramine.

Short answer is I would still run an RODI until so you have full confidence of the water going into the tank. The filters should last a long time and give you piece of mind.
