Welcome to R2R! Nothing good happens in reef tank fast. Take your time.
I've watched considerable amount of videos during my research, plan on posting pics of dry rock formation to forums once I am to that point to see what community thinks of my positioning so no negative space, have good flow areas. And no pinch points where cleaning and maintenance will be a problem

Welcome to the forum! It's an incredible amount of research on the front end, but you found one of the best sources of information on the internet.

Welcome to the reef! I certainly agree that this is more than a hobby and "lifestyle" is a great term for it. Hobbies are something that come and go, something you can put down for weeks or years at a time, but come back and pick up right where you left off. You certainly can't do that with an active reef tank, not without tearing it all down and hopefully finding homes for all of your inhabitants.

Welcome to R2R and the wonderful folks, information and help.
Patience, it is the big word around here, Reefing is patience to cycle, to watch things grow, to keep your tank balanced.
I recommend to everyone joining to create a tank build thread.
1. You get to see where you have started and how much you have grown in this hobby.
2. We love pictures and to see what your doing with your tank.
3. It’s a great learning tool for all of us to see what works and doesn’t . We learn great stuff from each other.
Lastly the only bad question here is the one not asked...

Caring for your picky eaters: What do you feed your finicky fish?
