I'm looking into the new Waterbox DX 100.3 Reef tank but am having a hard time swallowing the $1100 increase in price over the regular reef 100.3 tank . I see the sump is upgraded to now include an ATO reservoir but still no option for a filter roller. I am new to this hobby and looking to purchase my first tank ever and want to do it right. Any advice appreciated on whether this purchase is worth the premium.

Waterbox DX 100.3 ... $3,599
Red Sea Reefer 350 G2 ... $2,349

Mind you, the Red Sea is about 8-10 gallons smaller in total volume - but it's $1,250 less in price (and for that you can buy a ReefMat 500, Sicce SDC 7.0 return pump, skimmer, UV, etc.)

I'm not sure a "limited edition" sump with a few features that isn't easily convertible to a fleece roller is worth the $1100 premium.

Weird. The price just dropped to $2899 for the DX 100.3. I wonder if it was a pricing error or if they realized the error of their ways. I was literally about to pull the trigger on the 350 G2 today but now have to think about it again.

If it weren’t for the dimensions on the Waterbox Frag systems (I prefer wide & shallow, these are 25” in depth & 16” in height), I would have gone for the RedSea 350 G2. G2 is priced better and has some nice upgrades over the previous gen.

Thankfully I was able to mod the WB sump for the ReefMat 500.
