Steal is good by it has the Diesel trade mark every time you post or I hunt down .............. as bad things happen only overnight, LOL

That's weird!!
Now I'm thinking that maybe some sand got stuck to the slime coat this morning.
How are they breading as we speak?
Do they rub onto rocks or sand of any kind?

@helen Are you sure there were no white spots on the fish yesterday?

You're telling me the fish went from this:

To this in roughly 12 hours?

Could it have sleeping in the sand bed?

That's what I'm wondering at this point. A clownfish's mucous coat is incredibly thick and can collect a lot of debris/sand. But if the clown's usual MO is to sleep on the sand bed every night, wouldn't this happen every morning?

May have to wait and see in the morning again. Interesting to find out. At this point I would set up the QT when you can and observe. Maybe it is sand and you skated by!

I just got home and this is a pic I just took.
They seem to be doing fine, I don't see any difference in behavior and they just ate like little pigs, like they always do!

I am not seeing any rubbing on the rocks at all!

In the midst of the madness ... as I was looking for my little yellow goby ... I be danged if I didn't see the missing firefish pop right out of the back of a rock!!! For the love of goodness!!! I will be checking myself into the nearest looney bin soon!!!!o_O

Other than the gobies I have seen none sleeping in the sandbed!
All of them ... Clowns, Cardinal and Dwarf Angel had the spots and now I don't see them like I did this morning!

I got something! I don't know what it is! But those pics are pics that I took in the moment and I just took this one ... Also you can see bunch of white things in the water have never seen that before.

Leaving full image and not zooming and cropping. Hope to leave at the high res and you can see it better!

In all seriousness. Im glad you asked all the right questions. It is a bit maddening at times. But what youll see is theres a lotta great folks that feel the same as you do. keep an eye out.
Patience is such a hard thing and its hard to figure out when its actually going wrong.
I hope it's nothing.
Bugs bloom from time to time and go away. Algae too. Fish go missing and become less shy after a while and are glad to see your face at the glass.
Its part of the fun and challenge to keep it going.
Keep an eye out and report back.:D

One question what kind of sand do you have?
