Looks good. Just watch the alk swings. Most softie and LPS corals can tolerate swings but if you’re going to keep SPS, they’re less forgiving.
How do I control that? And why would it swing like that? :) Thanks! Trying to understand all I’ve read about alk and calcium.

Dose 2-part?
I have Red Sea Reef Energy Coral Nutrition. And I have the Red Sea Alk liquid concentrate. I dosed half a ml. Of the Alk yesterday. Today tested at 6.4 was at 7.2. I had dosed the day before that 1 ml and a half which increased it from 6.4 to 7.2. But my calcium spiked from 447 to 576. Not sure just trying to get an understanding before my corals arrive in two weeks.

In a new tank, I wouldn’t worry about it. You’ll have swings up and down. Keep testing and writing down your results to keep track. Some people start dosing day 1 of a new tank and that might be hard in the beginning for someone new. I’d say, start with some easier corals - maybe zoas or mushrooms. After awhile, you kind of get a feel for your tank.

If you are growing coralline that will eat up your Alkalinity. Weird on the Calcium, but I do not know the product you used. I tend to base everything off of my Alkalinity reading and test Calcium rarely. I find the test less exact and more so look for a trend or within a range.

My Magnesium is super low. I’m about to dose. For example. If mag is at 100 and I dose 1ml does that mean it’s going to double to 200 or it’s going to increase it by 1 to 101?

Concentration:
Liquid supplement: 1ml will raise the Mg level of 100 liters (25 gal) by 1ppm.

so what's your magnesium at? it can't actually be 100? lol

edit: oh sorry i thought i added more. so 1 ml added will make it 101. so you don't want to raise it up too quickly, so if your level is 1250 and you want it at 1400, just slowly add 150 ml over the course of a few days.

~***\##|8/18/19|##\***~ Delayed post.

Currently...

Dosing Alkalinity. Slacking on the calcium reactor. Need to buy 5lb CO2. This would hopefully help with my Alkalinity.

Trying to maintain a nitrate concentration of 5 ppm so I did the following.
Turned off the skimmer for a day. Nitrate went from between 0 - 2 to between 2 - 5.
Changed the skimming schedule from 24 hours to 6 hours.
Changed the fuge lighting schedule from 7 to 5 to 7 .

Let’s see what that does...

Did you buy all of those? I actually was watching some of those... and thinking I want! These are my sun corals (dendrophyllia). They need lots of feeding and zero light. They can handle light but don’t need it. These guys eat eat eat. So feeding is a must.

Really love those corals you got.

I did! Ugh they are beautiful! I'm going to need a bigger tank sooner than I thought lol. Thanks for the tip #dendrophyllia - take all that I can get!
