First pics are going to be of the stand I started building right after Christmas.

So far here is the latest. I’m currently working on drilling and plumbing the tank. I’ll be using a synergy reef overflow and a 1.5inch return line. I’ll post my sump and other toys later on in the thread

Had a small issue with the height of my return bulkhead, so I have to shave down the rim of the nut using a dremel. Sure does beat having to drill the tank again. I’m very lucky it’s not too close that it would be unobtainable. Once I have the bulkhead secured on and tight I will be adding a small bead of silicone around it just to make sure things will be 100% solid.

Unlike the picture of the plywood you showed the one you used is particle. That board is not designed for structural support so wondering why you used this instead of the one pictured?

Also, I don't see a vertical support on the ends of your stand, is this by design or still in progress? Other than that looks good and excited for you.. Good luck!

Thanks a lot!! The vertical support comes from the two sister 2x4’s on each end totaling 8 legs. And the particle board is over top of the actual frame and is there to help spread the load over the 4 top horizontal braces

Plus that particle board is 3/4 thick. Same used on the walls of houses in my part of the world. Should hold up fine. I used someone else’s plans to ensure that it would be structurally sound and used a similar design on my 90g that’s been sound and level for a year so I think it’s good but appreciate your input!

Overflow and 1.5 inch bulkhead now in place. Man do I hate drilling. Had to shave down the bulkhead nut but I got it in. Gonna seal it with some silicone tonight

Got the sand in with the help of my fiancé’s sisters. Now is the fun part, filling it! I will be measuring the level of it every 20 gallons or so just to make sure everything is kosher. Wish me luck over the next few days!

So far so good on waterline. I have been checking the level of the tank every 3 or so buckets of sw and so far it’s still doing great. Very happy with the build so far.

New rock is in, I cycled brs reef saver dry rock for 5 weeks after a 1 day bleach bath and they seem to be going good. Gonna be cycling them in the tank for alittle while longer. I wonder if room temp is still good for the bacteria on the rock? Who knows lol I’m gonna use my heater anyway
