The frogspawn looks great, did your goby recovered?

Thanks!

Clown goby is doing great no Ich to speak of and still eating great. I have noticed ich on all over fish in the system. Both clowns barely had any and it was only there for a day so I’m thinking they are health enough to fight it off. Neon goby on the other hand was covered! It’s still there today but is slowly fading away. I’ve accepted my tank will have ich and I will just focus on keeping fish healthy and hope for the best.

Did a little algae maintenance today along with a small 4G water change. Really didn’t need the water change except I needed to remove the algae I scraped off somehow so water change it was.

Parameters Before water change
Tested with salifert test kits
pH 8.15
Alk 10.9
Calc 460-480
Mag 1170
Phos 0
Nitrate 1-2.5

tested with a ati refractometer
Salinity 1.025

Will test again tomorrow to make sure all is okay and update with a picture! All corals and fish are doing well ich is still present on neon goby and I believe it is coming back onto the clown goby as well.

Sad update.

Ich has finally started to kill my fish and I have lost a neon goby and my female clown within 24hrs of each other. I have a 10G qt system getting set up tomorrow for my male clown (wish the Female clown made it).

Also my Aussie frogspawn has started to peel away from its skeleton. I noticed it when I got home today and by lights out it looks much worse. I have moved it to a very low flow area and it did accept reef roids so that was a plus.

On to good news
All other corals are doing great! Acans are nice and fluffy. Xenia growing like crazy might try and trade some in to the lfs soon. Hammer still splitting. Purple tip frogspawn seem to be splitting into 2-4 heads now started as 1 head.

Skipping water change this week as levels seem good and it will help with setting up the qt.

All readings with salifert test.
Mag 1140 (getting a addictive to raise this)
Alk 10.2
Calc 470
Nitrate 1-2.5
Phos 0 (working on this)
pH 8.1

Leak testing the Qt tank and will get water in there tomorrow. Cupramine is suppose to arrive on Thursday to start treatment. I have a couple elbows for some hiding spots I will throw in.

Went to the lfs and ended up with a few extra frags then I went in for! They aren’t in their final resting place just spaced around tank getting use to things.

This was added last week from a buddy

Sad to report but all my fish have passed away before being put into the QT. Died the day before I got the cupramine. Most other things are doing good. Meteor shower cyphastrea isn’t looking good it browned out the day I got it so I placed in a low flow shaded spot and it hasn’t changed since. Coraline algae has taken off and I’m seeing rocks start to turn a purple shade!

Cyphastrea
1hr after adding to tank starting to brown

1 week later hasn’t browned any further

I’m at a lost as to if it needs more light or less light.

Haven’t updated in quite awhile been sitting fishless to get rid of ich. I have added two corals during my fishless cycle and they should both be ich free so I’m crossing my fingers.

Most corals are doing great but I’ll update on them all. Don’t worry if you just want pics go to the bottom

The bad first
The cyphastrea has started to look worse and I’m almost positive I’ve lost it but will keep it in to see if it turns around.

Acans got hit with something weird and melted almost lost two heads but tissue stayed around and they are growing back.

Sunburst monti and my spongodes monti seem to not be getting enough light and are slowly receding but in process of increasing my lights.

Also had a weird period where alk was slowly raising after my water changes (I believe this has stopped as alk is now at a steady 11.4) and am in the process of lowering it to 8.3 or so.

The good!
The hammer coral that bleached out some is almost finally all pink again! I believe this happened due to low mag levels as once I increased that hammer started to look better.

Frogspawn is fully split into 2 heads and looks to be still splitting more.

All my zoas are growing quite well and my very first one is up to about 7-8 polyps now and most others are growing.

Xenia is growing like mad and I’m in the thought process of getting rid it of it to make more room for other more enjoyable corals.

Gsp is starting to color back up and it starting to grow again so might be placing on the back wall somewhere soon.

New additions
Added a green/red trachy a couple weeks ago. It’s doing well and even grew some tissue back after a rough transport. Also starting to see some orange streaks pop up and I’m really excited to see how this thing turns out in a few months down the road.

Also added a ponape birdsnest last Friday. It has kept its color and I knocked off a branch so I made a frag and I already see some slight growth!

Also the Superman monti and birdsnest will end up on the left rock work after getting adjusted to the lighting.

Here are the long awaited pics

Those corals look great! Tank is starting to fill in nicely. I really like the diverse selection.

Also sorry to hear about the fish, I'm going thru something similar. My firefish developed a few white spots that now appear to fade and wanted to asked you about your experience. When you notice the ick on your goby it went away and then spread to the other fishes? How long did it took?

Thanks! I had a plan when I started and so far I’m sticking to it just have to see how the sps do over time.

It took maybe a week to spread onto the other fish. And it did two/three rounds over the course of a month before anything died. The goby only had it once in the very beginning and then when he died a month later. He was ich free for 3 weeks before his death.

Sadly I didn’t get a qt set up quick enough but I’m ready now when I go to add fish.

Got a Wyze webcam set up near the tank for daily viewing and I can set it up directly in front of tank when I go out of town to keep a closer eye.

This is how I will normally see the tank during the day no Orphek lens

Back from vacation and tank seemed to do fine by itself for a week! Some great and slightly bad news.

Bad news first:
Before I left for vacation the cyphastrea was 99% dead and I decided to just toss instead of having a 3” tile with barely any flesh on it.

Also my birdsnest fell on top my sunburst monti while I was away. I’m not sure if it caused any issues as the monti was on its way out before I left. It’s still alive but doesn’t look good at all. Heard they can bounce back from nothing so it’s still in tank.

On to the great news!
Before I left I did a water change and brought the alk down to 10.4. After a week the alk was at 9.5! My tank is finally using alk! Will need to start dosing within the next few weeks.

So on my trip I was able to visit World Wide Corals and TopShelfAquatics to see if I found anything I liked. I found a few goodies and i’m probably done with corals for awhile unless I find a good frogspawn/hammer to finish off my garden.

Did a nice deep clean of my sand/rock today. Need to stay on top of that more often. Alk raised a little this week to 10 after a water change back down to 9.6 so I’ll continue to keep an eye on that. All corals seem to be doing well besides my montis. Noticed my monti spongodes that I tortured in the beginning is starting to encrust over the superglue so I’m curious if it will ever get its real colors back one day.

Also realized I believe I need another powerhead to keep detritus suspended as the left side by my rock flower nems is a huge dead spot (can be a plus when I decide to get another light as well).

Added the second powerhead on Thursday and so far I’m loving it! Keeping sand nice and clean and the hammer and frogspawn have much better movement now and are more fuller and I’m sure the sps are loving it as well since I’m sitting at around 40-50x turnover in tank now.

I also did a deep clean of my aio filter area and I’m beginning to hate not having a sump. Would make it much easier to clean and get all the gunk out of the tank.

Also added a second AI 16hd to the tank as well. Not entirely sure how I’m going to run it yet but I want the sps to get a bit more par so I need to figure this out soon lol. Right now they are both running the same settings and I believe I was at 150ish par before so now I’m hoping I’m gettin at least 200 (will get a par meter later this month to test).

I’m slowly upping the light over my sps section as my green slimer was browning out although still has great polyp extension. Everything is looking great except for some of the sps (montis and green slimer). All the lps and softies are going well. The new red/green blasto already has a new head that wasn’t there before.

Also I made a mistake today and accidentally siphoned a few tentacles off of my frogspawn. It’s not happy but is opened and hopefully will recover.

Hey, I have a quick question, I have a nuvo 20 as well. Question is, what are you running your return at? I currently have it the lowest amount (tank is still cycling atm) which on the controller is 1.1. Just curious what you run yours at? Thanks.

I run it at 1.9 highest setting. It’s a little loud and one day I might change out the pump to make it quite but now my lights are louder so who knows. I have a ton of flow but sands staying out and still have dead spots so who knows haha.
