I have a concern with this set-up I am not sure anyone else has seen. Bean uses a Full Siphon I believe for Main Drain, you have your main drain from frag into main drain on DT. Those need to be seperated, and each plumbed individually into the sump, you can safely plumb your emegency lines 2 into 1, and possibly your secondary returns can be plumbed 2 into 1. You will need another bulkhead in your sump I think to make this work correctly.

2x one inch drains under full siphon will overflow a 1.5 inch full siphon, 1inch into 1 inch and you've got both tanks fighting for area to flow into where they combine, creates back pressure at the junction, the pipe with the greater water volume at higher level will drain more than the other tank.

Hey, yes if you look at the last post I changed it all up and added 3 more bulkheads to the sump, 1 for another return and two for frag tanks main drain and secondary. The emergencies are the only ones I plumbed 2 into 1.

Great Looking tank. My next tank will be an IM 200ext.

I was wondering if you don't mind taking some pictures of the inside of the sump. IM barely has any internal pics of it. Thanks!!!

Looking great. I love the way you plumbed it with the frag tank. Giving me ideas for my build! I'm waiting for my EXT 200 and I have a tank in the garage. Maybe I could plumb them together....interesting.

Thank you! I am really happy how the plumbing turned out. Both tanks are dead silent.

Plumbing and fill time! Hurst my head just thinking about it but I got 95% done this week.

I am going to be running dual return pumps for redundancy and splitting the load between the two. I ended up doing one return pump that feeds one of the display returns and the frag tank return. The second pump will power the other display return and a manifold with the UV piped off it.

Because both tanks are using bean animal overflows I had the issue of 6 drains I needed to tie into the sump. The sump only comes with 3 drains and 1 return bulkhead. I ended up ordering 2 more 1” and a 3/4” bulkhead and drilled the acrylic plate in the return section. I ended up

Here is the drains for the frag tank and I soft plumbed the returns.

I started to add water to the frag tank today and fill the sump. I have a ball valve so I can direct the pump to just the frag tank for now and have that cycling.

It’s taking a while to make enough water but every now and then I am opening the valve to send water to the display. Currently about 2/3 full. Having anxiety over the floor holding the weight but trying to trust in the calculations!

Hoping to get the water full by the morning. I go away this week for work for a few days so want to confirm all the plumbing before that.

You can see where I haven’t finished the second display return plumbing. That’s where the manifold will go but also struggling to work out how and where I should put the UV. Any suggestions?
Great job! My ultimate goal is to have a peninsula tank. I'm holding out until we buy a house that's either a "forever home" or at least a "decade home". I moved a 210-gallon aquarium twice in 3 years and I'm still emotionally & physically scared. LOL

Reading through the thread. Living in Florida is a mixed blessing. I don't have to reinforce my concrete slab for the tank but I don't have a lower floor to plumb to.

I know how you feel, I lost almost all my SPS on the last move.

so what are those balls in the filter sock area? are you going to use socks or those balls?

They are the cotton media balls that come with the sump. I'm using those for now but not sure I will keep them long term. I stopped using socks a long time ago so may run with nothing in that area.
