Not a fan of damsels. Too aggressive to make good tank mates.

Only one that comes to mind is a Red Coris Wrasse. Had one in my first 120g reef tank and the thing was basically a bulldozer with fins.

I'd like non-aggressive fish that all just get along so I'll go with (from very limited experience)...
Wish I hadn't but would probably stupidly do again:
-- Clownfish = menace,,, but you just gotta have 'em, right?
-- Male Bangaii cardinal = my current regret,,, but I'd never know how to find a female anyway,,, so,,, it is what it is (as they say)

Domino damsel, pearl damsel. Although, hands down the most aggressive one was a yellow damsel. I managed to catch him and put him in a tiny breeder box I was using as a mini refugium, where he tore the algae to shreds until I could return him to the LFS. Funny. I caught him easy, but could never catch the pearl damsel. The yellow damsel probably attacked the net.

My occelaris clowns have been super chill. I've had them a little under for about 9 months, and they don't mess with any tank mates, and have just recently started giving me love bites when I'm in the tank. They seem very protective of my hammer garden, lol.

Copperbands. Yes. You can get them to survive and thrive but I’ve had them all die on me. Some fish are just better left in the ocean. I feel that’s one of them.

Dottybacks.
They are demon terror fish. I have 2 smallish wrasses living in my overflow box because the dottyback chases them relentlessly. And that is after 3 weeks in an acclimation box and releasing 5 fish at the same time to hopefully confuse the aggressor. No such luck.

Heard many people say that. Mine is right now an a class citizen but it’s still young. I’m ready to have to harpoon it if necessary.
Maybe he'll surprise you and behave well for the rest of his life. Mine was an idiot but all fish are different, what I do advise you is to look at it if you put a new fish in the tank.

Dottybacks!!! They are just mean and vicious as hell.

I had one in my first year of reefing, a bicolor, and that SOB pretty much killed anything that moved. It tore apart any and all shrimp, and terrorized other fish until they jumped the tank!

FYI, daily Fresh (frozen) mussels and frozen bloodworms will keep them alive long-term. Mine has been in my tank for over 3 years.

gold head gobie and sailfin tang. I had two gobies that would crop dust my aquarium making the water cloudy and the rocks and corals dirty. I gave them to a local fish store. The sailfin only because he is getting too big and i want to go with smaller/more fish.

For me a dolabella seahare tops the list, they’re the worst bulldozers once grown enough. Talking fish strictly I’d have to say Moorish Idols. So beautiful but oh so……. Not willing to thrive in captivity lol

We've talked about coral, now let's talk about fish... We all want beautiful and peaceful fish. But we can't always get what we want! Maybe a murderous tank bully, a sickly fish that is prone to illness, or a fish that won't come out of hiding. Do you have a fish that you've banned from your reef? Let's discuss it!

Is there a fish that you swear you will never own again?

Clown Trigger. I've tried twice because I think they are incredibly beautiful, but they're just plain serial killers.
