I’m having a big algae outbreak along with cyano algae- tank is about 12 to 14 months old and is about 140 gallons.
I started using Phosguard a few days ago to try and lower the PO4.
I’ve changed about 20-30% of water over past week to try and lower NO3.
Should I use NO POX to knock down the nitrate and phosphate?
Is this what is causing the algae and cyano?
I went through this ugly stage about three or four months in and everything cleared up and was great and now it’s back.
Any help would be appreciated.

Driving nutrients down won’t solve any issues. Algae is a symptom from not enough herbivores.

I have a pincushion urchin, bunch of snails, couple tangs and large turbo snail that feast on algae.
Tank has been algae free for half a year and now it’s back. If nutrients wouldn’t cause it, what would?

Have you replenished the clean up crew lately?
