Hi there my 90g tank is running the past 2 months , with the live rock from a previous 14yo tank. i moved the rock but not the sand (the tanks were in the same room so LR is perfect) , the sand is totally new half dead , half live sand.
the problem is that despite the fact that i made some 40% water changes back to back , the NO3 wont drop , around 20ppm
-for fishes is only a YT and a couple of chromies.
-i also have to mention that i use a Calcium reactor , that didnt run for at least 8 years , i just rinse very well the media inside of it , and re use it, i dont believe that is the source of the NO3
-i use a antiphoss reactor
-carbon
-a rolling fleece filter

do i have to add something like MicroBacter7 to help me on that?

I’m sorry but I can’t help but laugh. It’s 20ppm. Don’t worry about it. I had upwards of 500 confirmed on icp tests and thriving fish and coral. Not saying that’s good but just to give you some perspective.

as for your source. I would think it’s some break down from the old sand that you used, probably die off from back terms during the move. You could always add some bacteria to help but I would just do a water change and keep monitoring it.

No4?
If that’s NH4 + Nh3, you may have a nitrite blip. If it’s NO2, then that is a nitrite blip, which will be giving you false nitrate numbers because it interferes with the test. That’s to be expected after messing with the tank.

You got a nitrite test kit?

Yes is 0.1

So
No2 0.1
No3 0.50
PO4 0.1

i know my mistakes , right now i have only corals , i am in fallow period.
so i will make some water changes and i just start dosing with skimmer off
Reef Biofuel by Brightwell Aquatics

before i transfer the stock to the new tank i had a lion fish Because i wanted to start FO , so i was feeding him with fish (frozen) , i transfer him also to the new tank , i keep feeding him , the new tank is Reef , the fact that he is 70% reef safe didnt stop me to remove him from the tank .
so i believe this is the source.
the other day i found while siphoning a tail from a frozen food. anyway
