So I bought 2 sets of zoas a few months ago was the first corals I added to my tank. They were open but they started to get to the point they wouldn’t open all the way. Some not. I’ve moved em around thinking maybe it was to bright or they weren’t happy & nothing. I tested & the perimeters are fine (I test weekly) so I took the zoas out & dipped them with coral rx & shook em off in a container & I seen a couple of these (in the pic) Haven’t seen any on my torch I added about 2 weeks ago. I seen these little tiny things that look like snails crawling on my zoas so I think they may be tiny snails. I thought maybe they were irritating the zoas is why I dipped & to see if there was a pest nothing them. The snails look white. Also I have these white spots on the back glass so I’m assuming their snail eggs? These things in the bucket are flat & round that’s in the pic & from the light they appear either gray or brown? I have coral rx & dip my corals, I’ve dipped the zoas before & it seems to work a little bit but it’s back to being closed… Could it be flatworms? I have plenty of pods & know what they look like. But I haven’t seen any flatworms crawling on anything. I’ve had my tank up since around March. Everything else in the tank is fine…

Can you get a closer shot? They appear to be isopods but I can't tell which kind from the current photos. Do they look something like this?

Im sorry that’s the best pics I could get I did see the normal pods that are long kinda look like shrimp tho (the good ones) I didn’t think about the pods that are bad I had used my iPhone 11 Pro Max & those were the best it could do even tho I zoomed in I need to get me a magnifying glass kit for my iPhone. I’m going to wait a few days & see if it gets better & try again & see if I can get a better pic of one… from what I could see what looked like 2 black dots for eyes & they looked like they were flat, they would zip a few cm at a time in the container. I’m just wondering why the zoas ain’t opening & everything else is fine…

Definitely sounds like isopods. I take it they didn't look like the picture I posted? Identification is very important. Especially if they are already in your tank. Some isopods are harmless and beneficial while others are parasites.

Doesn’t look like that from the naked eye I couldn’t see any legs what so ever. Kind of looks like this flatworm but from what I could see it was round & flat but doesn’t look like the flatworm in the pic kinda looked circle ish I wish I coulda took better pics it was very tiny… I’m going to look on Amazon & get one of those head magnifying glasses with a light & possibly one of those for my phone to see if I can get a better ID I’ve been meaning to get one for a while…

From what I could see it looked like this… my container was gray I should have used a white one to see it better but I only have a gray container. Maybe the container was throwing off the color it could have been gray, brown or clear? (Did this in a sketch app…) I will check again in a few days & see if I find one. I saw maybe 3 or 4 they were super tiny. The good pods were bigger than it I could see them pretty good.

It could also be a flatworm. Keep us posted. Do your best to get pics. of more. I'm guessing they're what is causing your problem.

Don’t think they’re how big?
Well, from the photos I can see a pretty clear outline of an isopod in at least 1. He just used his cell phone camera. I'm just saying I doubt his phone camera would capture a ciliate even that clearly.
