Is this a type of coralline algae or is it something I should be concerned about. I’m starting to notice spots of it growing all over my rock.. the reddish dark purple looking algae.

Is it hard or does it peel off easily? If it's hard, then yes, coralline algae does come in a great variety of different shades and colors.

I suspect it's a reddish type of coralline algae. To be sure try to blow some off with a baster, or rub it with your finger. If it doesn't come off, it's coralline.

If we're talking about the red that's on the frag plug, it looks soft, thick and slimy to me. Don't think it's Coraline.

Search button is your friend, probably 20,000 post on this. The few responses are spot on, blows off easy with turkey baster, Cyno ( Use ChemiClean ) hard and encrusting, coraline algae, good thing, leave it.
