Nox ich

Was reading up on this product and wondering how it claims it's a 3 day treatment if the ich cycle is longer. Doesn't seem right. Anyone have any thought or input on this?

Well, I have used this product for a lot of years on freshwater. It is simply malachite green. I have found that you can repeatedly dose this medication on FW fish beyond the 3 days. On SW fish, you need to double the dose and it is quite a bit harsher on the fish. I have had limited success with it, but you point of 3 days is very valid. After more reading and educating myself, I am leaning towards copper as my standard of treatment. You bring the water to a theraputic level and leave it for "x" days. So far so good for me.

Do you know if nox kills ich in its cyst stage as well?

My understanding is that both ich and velvet can only be killed in its free swimming stage. I do think there are some treatments that will allow the cyst to detach, but they do not kill the ich.
