Update [12/01/2019]
image5.jpeg

Hi Reef2Reef,

After a 10 year hiatus from reefing I've decided to take another dive. I didn't normally post here back then although had an account, it was more at the "other" site. :) As always I want to start a tank thread to chat, share and log my experiences in reefing.

I've decided on a Red Sea Reefer Peninsula 650 system. I really missed the rimless look of my Elos tanks I've had in the past, back then Elos USA was about 1 hour from where I live so it was pretty easy to drive there and pickup a system. Today I guess you can say its even easier that they offer delivery to your driveway included in sale price. So here goes my list of equipment. I must say Marine Depot, Bulk Reef Supply (BRS) and Premium Aquatics have extremely fast shipping! I started ordering Sunday evening and packages are already arriving today. If I recall back then BRS started off just selling 2-Part solution mixes. So awesome how they have grown!

Completed my Innovative Aquarium Nuvo Fusion 20 tonight. This nano will also serve as a quarantine/frag tank with Radion/Vortech controlled by Apex.

Note for Red Sea Reefer owners about to build their stand. Make sure you double check the center support piece in stand to not have it backwards!!!! This piece is installed in they beginning and you will not realize it’s backwards until done!!! Way to tell is to match up the pins that will hold the sump area floor. The manual does not say anything about this.

If you miss this step you’ll be building this stand twice!

Awesome tank! love the peninsula series. Curious if you feel that 2 MP40s will be enough flow? I am assuming you will mount them on the overflow side? Also 1 250W heater seems a bit iffy to me. Any thoughts on getting a second heater as an aid and backup controlled by your apex?

Sweet setup overall though, im jealous!!

I’m sure 2-MP40’s won’t be enough long term. But I’m trying to find an alternative for more flow on the other side of tank without wires inside without causing a sandstorm.

good catch on the 1 heater! I meant to add two to the order. I realized that while heating the water today.

I dosed a bottle of Dr Tim’s yesterday. Today I threw in a frozen cube of mysis and started up the Zeovit reactor and started Zeovit 14 day cycle. I really like the idea of the Avast Vibe reactor that set to vibrate twice a day (6am/6pm) so you don’t have to do by hand.
