whats the back of your 50 have in it.
Mine is the 25 lagoon. I have a modified cadlights pls50 skimmer, 1 box of marine pure balls, 1 filter sock, a co2 scrubber, and a media reactor.
-co2 scrubber-brs small reactor with soda lime
-media reactor-brs standard reactor with AF zeolite, carbon, gfo

I also put a small spoon of mud in every month

icepap 3k @ 30% alternating, and return pump is a jebao DCP 3000 (845gph) with two random flow generators.

Tank is a mixed reef, and barebottom so I need the extra flow.

Hope that helps.

I use two Tunze 6040. One on each side. I set them on a pretty low settings with a long pulse alternating from side to side. Plan was to turn them up as things grow in.

I use a single MP10 and the stock return pump. I have the MP10 positioned in the upper right corner, low enough to prevent splashing but high enough above the rockwork to push the largest volume of water uninterrupted. This seems to work well with softies, LPS, and very easy SPS. Not the cheapest option, but the cleanest-looking, as far as I know.

I run:
Vectra S-1 w/ random flow nozzles
MP 10
Gyre 130

I have an arid reactor running off a nuvo 20 pump, that I will eventually not be lazy and run it off my vectra.

Just seeing this thread, I love the tank and aquascape you have. Is the Kessil 360 working out pretty good for you? SPS happy with it? I have the Lagoon 25 with the 160 and was thinking of upgrading to the 50 sometime.

Thanks! The Kessil 360 works great with SPS, but the single light source definitely can throw shadows - one of its highlights, but also can become a problem with branching SPS. I've noticed as my birdsnest coral grows, the branches underneath have lost their vibrancy as the higher "branches" block their light. Disclaimer - I never set this tank up with the intention of giving it the attention it needs for SPS to thrive, so results may vary on more challenging SPS.

Fair enough. I was wondering if I should just add a second 160 instead of going with the 360. I really like the look of one light above the tank.m though. I guess since the tank measures 30” that is out of the 24” recommended light spread for the light. Still debating! lol

Such a great tank, I'm about to get a IM 50 as well and am very inspired by your setup. I know you mentioned previously that you purchased the stand/cabinet from Wayfair and then put a larger base on top; any chance you remember what the model name or number of the stand/cabinet you purchased and modified?

How’s the tank doing? Any updates?
Well, there have been quite a few updates, actually! After a period of feeding the tank and doing minimal maintenance, GSP and xenia took over ALL the rocks. It actually looked pretty cool until I realized the GSP was climbing up and strangling my corals. So I bombed the tank with fenbendazole, which killed all the GSP and xenia (and unfortunately a beautiful purple gorgonian). I then did a bunch of water changes, cut off the dying/dead pieces of coral the gsp strangled out, and then.......... upgraded the tank to a 120 gallon. Lol
Been a year...
