Had a great time today at Reefapalooza-Texas. I would like to say thank you again to R2R for their awesome booth and shwag gifts! The corals were on fire today, especially the Jason Fox booth like always. No photoshop needed. One of the coolest things for me was this 40oz reef by pnw-custom. Unbelievable in person. Here’s a couple pics!

What was the crowd like? Can't tell from any of the pics. I decided to just wait and go on Sunday.

It wasn’t as busy as some of the events I have been to in the past. I was there from about 11-3. The crowd started to pick up as I was leaving. The benefit of going Sunday is definitely even better deals than today. Good luck!

That was my thought. I got to Aquashella around 11am and I bet there were several thousand already there. I know there had to be well over 500 people in line in front of me waiting to get in. Just wondering what this was like. With DFW having 8 frag swaps this year I think people are burned out. The last couple I went to I don't think there were 25 people there at any one time.
I figure anything I really like at the show is going to be way out of my price range so that is why I'm waiting to go on Sunday afternoon. Like you said, hopefully I can just snag a few good deals.

Oh yea, I did hear about aquaashella going on too. Some major retailers probably chose to go there. I know ADG was supposed to go to that one. I’m just glad Jason Fox and R2R made it to this one. That alone, made it worth it. I did some some outrageous prices though, especially the scolys. Everyone has a master and they all look like amazing haha. Good luck!

I had an amazing time! Below are some really cool cauliflower soft corals I’ve never seen before- had to buy it of course! I got a picture with Vic with my mom and I won the Radeon light from echotech!
One way or another I'm leaving with those jugs of phyto and pods...

Everyone was so friendly and I had SO MUCH FUN!!! GREAT DEALS were had! Someone above said expensive scolys but there were deals on even scolys! And the fish! And clams! And earrings! And aquarium food! And products! ... and MORE!!! WOW!!! Next time I will take more and better photos, but these are what I caught among all the excitement over three days (Saturday, Sunday plus Friday setup). WAHOO!!!

I ended up getting some great deals I think. I will try and get a couple of pics on Monday or Tuesday. My son picked up a few things, also. I mainly bought from the same vendors that I always do at the other swaps.
I got there at 3pm and there wasn't much of a crowd. One of the vendors said he thought the Sunday crowd was almost as good as Saturday. I was surprised that some of the booths were already empty, though those may have just been the ones that never sold to a vendor. I do know that a lot of the vendors were packing up by 4pm. Most said they had flights they had to catch. Most of them were packed by 5pm so anyone getting there after 4 didn't have much to look at.
I hope it was big enough success that they do it again next year. They need to have a civil conversation with the Aquashella show and make sure they are not on the same weekend. They also probably should be farther apart time wise. One in the spring and one in the fall. Personally I prefer Aquashella but I'm also into freshwater so I really like having both at a show. I also wish they had more fish but I know that vendors don't want to deal with shipping them to the show so that is left to the local vendors. That is one good thing about the CA shows, from the pics I've seen they have a lot more fish available at the show.
I was surprised that my welcome bag and my sons both had t-shirts in them. I had not heard it mentioned you would get something like that with just the $30 day pass.

This was my first Reefapalooza! It was so great meeting so many of you in person! After 16 years in this hobby I still enjoy coming to shows and networking.
