Been looking for a sleek hanging system for my old generation Hydra units. I have four Hydra's with 20 Led's spaced across four pucks, and one Hydra 52, which has 52 Led's spaced across 4 pucks. They all run off the Director unit.
I have ordered multiple Hydra led Flex Arms, from BRS, and MarineDepot, ending up with no solution. Both times the descriptions and/or pictures did not match the product received. BRS was good enough to tell me to keep the product as it was discontinued, and refunded my money. MarineDepot said it was a manufactures mistake and they would send me out the correct attachment for the end of the Flex Arm.
I was put in contact with Mike Melnyk, when BRS had reached out to him about my issue. We exchanged numerous emails, and truthfully was impressed by his promptness in responding. He has mailed a possible solution, which I'm waiting to receive. In the meantime I went ahead and ordered an AI product he suggested should work. This is the HMS single arm mounting kit. The bar code #653341180728 not sure if you need the first and last number, but that was on the box.
What I like is the new designed clamp, and yes it works with Petco 40G breeder tanks with lips, although sometimes you will find descriptions saying for rimless only. Everything went together fairly easily, but a few problems to be aware of. The screws that pass through the bracket and screw into the lamp are not long enough, and you will need to buy some machine screws. Also the supplied Allen/Hex wrench is not the best quality, and not the correct size for every screw.
Overall I am very happy. I will also update the Flex arms shortly.
The arm comes with a bracket for the Hydra 26 as well.
