I completely restarted my display by switching to a different tank. 200xl
Old tank had ick outbreak maybe velvet

fish have been in there with no treatment for 2 weeks and eating very happily.

to keep my fish happy I put them in the old water in a QT 40b tank.
When I get back from vacation I plan to put them in a 20L QT and get a 10g for corals QT

can I reuse the old water and begin to copper treat them in 20L

And for the frag QT can I use the old water as well? Or will this be an issue when transferring corals to Display

Ok. And the question was...?
Sorry, I posted before I finished. Main concern is if using old water for my frag tank because it is established going to be a bad idea when transferring corals to display tank that will have non infected water

I’m still a little confused about the question. But in a word, yes you can take your DT water and put in the QT but your DT should be filled with everything that’s been quarantined appropriately and the water from the QT should never go back to the DT

idk why you would use the old water.... It may have ich in it, but ich will die in treatment or after a fallow if that answers your question,

There’s nothing wrong with using a bit of old water. Any potential disease would be treated for in qt. That said, there isn’t really a reason outside of not having to mix more saltwater.
Established bio media is what you really need to quick cycle the tank.
