I'm also jumping on the "how'd you trap him" bandwagon. I've had a loud clicking in my tank for a year or two, and keep toying with the idea of setting a trap.

Wow you are so lucky you caught him. I had to tear down a tank once to get one. I didnt see it for over a year but I had mysterious deaths and saw evidence of its existence constantly. They are awesome in species tanks, I have never gotten around to it but have always said I will have a peacock mantis tank one day, such a cool animal.

o guys thank you so much i'll pro

yeh now i just saw some video in youtube and planing to setup a nano tank for this animal.

Make sure you identify the type, smasher or spearer. I would guess smasher since you have lost snails.

I have had several and they are very funny critters. Sometimes they will just come out of the rock hole just to stare at you. Nano tank for sure

Had same issue and thought " he** no" as I knew already from the sound. Took me 2 months and every invert later that it ate including a sea hare to catch it.

hello guys
i've been hearing clicking noise for about 8 month , then i understood something like a worm was in my tank and i have lost some turbo snails and a red flam fish which i have never found its body even on overflow or under rocks,so i set a trap and i got this creature .please take a look at these photos and tell me what is this ? is it the reason of disappearance of my fish and snails ?

Mine was trapped in order to get it out. It is a simple trap with clear fishing line. You place a piece of shrimp or frozen fish feed and hold door open.
When the specimen enters, release the string and it is trapped !
Here are examples. Pic #1 is homemade version with a soda bottle, #2.... most common and #3 is the One I have.

mine came from the gulf of Mexico . I left him in the main tank.1/2 of what you hear is bs. I feed mine on a stick. he comes right out. he never touched a fish. maybe once in a while a hermit or snail. but I feel it,s worth it. part of a real reef
