Only one head of hammer looks bad, rest are fine?

Is there any reason for this? I have a two headed hammer, one head looks great and the other is really shrunken in. The one that is shrunken in is in the porcess of splitting, is that why? I have no fish that are not reef safe, so I can't think of anything that could be causing this. Thanks
