Very nice. I think I can see the new growth on his shell. These guys grow VERY FAST.

It’s definitely grown a bit. Eventually I plan to move it to my 90 cube and take all the rock out and make it basically a tank just for the clam.

Plan to keep them in about at least 8-12 inches under the water or else they may squirt water up and burn out your light.

I think that should work for quite a while at least. Tank is 3x2x2. I may plumb it into the 210g to try to make keeping the calcium and alk stable easier.

How are these shipped out of curisoty? Direct from Ora to door?

I've read too many horror stories of hobbyists buying clams from LA/DD and dyeing within a week or two. Actually wondering not trying to be mean but I've written them off for any and all clams.

My LFS just called ORA, put in an order and they shipped them. But they need a minimum order. He called Friday got them today.

If you order from the ORA section of liveaquaria's site it's from ORA to your door. You can tell as it says on those items "ships from Florida"

That’s two weeks. I was not expecting this much growth out of these guys. I guess I have to upgrade sooner than expected. Is your Gigas that dark in person? The mantle on mine looks a lot more translucent. Not bleached but seems a bit less densely populated with algae. Or is it your camera that makes them look this dark?

The pictures I took is pretty accurate in coloration. That is how they look face to face. They were a bit tanslucent on arrival but really color up in my tank. Posts #63 and #65 (on page 4) are pictures of Gigas #1 on arrival, he was in my office tank for 24 hrs.

I may have screwed mine up. I was doing maintenance and bumped it off it’s rock while siphoning the bottom. All of the threads anchoring it pulled off but I don’t think the actual foot is damaged too much. Seems to be opened nicely again but I’m a little concerned it might go south over the next few days.

I just ordered one from ORA via Liveaquaria. Really stoked to have a gigas again. Had one many years ago that grew from around 6" to almost 30" in a few years. Very fast growers when happy

Resurrecting this thread. How are everyone’s clams doing? Mine has doubled in size even with California fire power cuts! Super hardy.

I personally ended up going with 2 Maxima's from Pacific East Aquaculture. One blue, one gold. I'm considering a Gigas but knowing that they get large may just stay with what I have.
