Thanks for all the positive feedback. Yup that poor Dremel is almost toast wore out 2 carbide bits already, she has pretty mean skills with a 4 1/2" grinder as well.
Tank is going to be a mixed reef. I will post some pics of the outside setup in a day or two. Hope to start getting it wet by the weekend, that will probably take 2 or 3 days.

Gorgeous new tank! Sorry you had to deal with Cody, Greg, Phil and the rest of that crew ;)

I ended up getting served after writing the article about your mishap

Not sure if you'll be at RAP NY, but if not, drinks at MACNA!

I'm curious as to what your insurance said about coverage. Would the tank be covered?

I worked as a property adjuster for close to 10 years. Insurance company's cover the ensuing damage caused by a covered loss, but typically not the item that caused the damage. In short the aquarium failed or had a latent defect so it is not covered, but the damage to the flooring, equipment, stand, walls, other misc personal property, and furniture would be covered. The inhabitants of the fish tank are considered animals and are typically not covered under a policy regardless of the cause.

For those of you with insurance it would be wise to check in with your agent/insurance company to ensure you have whats called "All Risk" coverage on your personal contents and dwelling. In some cases basic policies only offer named peril coverage. Meaning, if the event that caused the damage is not one of the 12 listed perils in the policy nothing is covered.

Wow…the loss must have been devastating. It's great to see your making a comeback. Best of luck with the new build.

Following this incredible story, you are an example to a lot of die hard reefers. Good luck and keep posting pictures on this beautyfull build

Can't wait to see how this turns out. Glad to see you survived it.

I never should have let my wife see this thread. As I type she is telling me what would happen to me if my 120gal tank broke. I guess I won't mention that our homeowners won't cover it. haha

Def following the new build. I remember reading about the mishap shortly after it happened, my heart still sinks when I see the pics.

Following along. Had a similar issue with a 300 that was only five months old. Looking at a custom build replacement. Great your wife is supportive. Mine wants me to downsize.
