I recently acquired a small juvenile emperor angel that had a small white growth or parasite on one side. Please help me identify so I can decide if I need to treat for it or not.

It did. I’m sorry that offends your sensibilities. Thanks for your helpful identification.
It doesn’t bother me in the least. Did the fish arrive that way or is this something that developed? I can’t really tell from the images, sorry. Freshwater dip?

Looks too fuzzy to be an ich parasite to me, but I wouldn't overlook that either. Lympho is generally around the lateral line and mouth. @Jay Hemdal should be able to ID it for you.
Yeah definitely not Ich like I’ve seen in the past. Trying to get a better photo it sticks out a bit and is not a perfectly round shape.

I wouldn’t be too worried about that; unless Jay comes on and advises you to treat it, and not ignore it. Keep us posted as to whether it gets better, worse, or stays the same. Best wishes.

Juvenile emperors very frequently get lymphocystis, and it sure looks like it. It just isn’t super common to see a single growth mid body like this, but in the end, that’s what I’d say it is. No treatment needed, but it may spread to other areas.

Jay,
Thanks for weighing in. It certainly looks like lymphocystis but I hadn’t encountered it before and it seems like it’s usually all over from the pics I saw so I wanted to verify.
