Well I got my ICP test back and I'm pretty happy with the results. Looks like I can cut back on the Lugol's a bit to lower the Iodine quite a bit. They recommended ROWAphos to get rid of the aluminum, but I don't want to lower my phosphate too much.

Nice tank, sad to hear about the fatalities...

The 2 extra gyres should help with the deadspots. As far as I know you cannot mix the older Gyre's on a controller, the newer 300's you can mix if I'm correct.
About changing salt, with an AWC it shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Set it to a daily very low percentage, maybe 1 or 2%, and then let it cycle out over weeks.
But that's if you have a Neptune Apex or such which you can set the percentage on.

Morning... I haven't added anymore flow currently. If I do I think it will be something small as the dead spots aren't very large. Perhaps a couple of MP10s on the back wall. Time will tell. My AWC changes 2.5% daily, so I'm going to proceed after I run out of what remains of my Coral Pro salt. I don't think there will be issues. Thanks for checking out my thread though!

Last night I got my skimmer back online after almost 4 months of non-use. Was like it never missed a step, thankfully. I pulled my filter socks as they didn't seem to be catching anything anyways. I have enough chaeto to act like a filter anyways. All of my tests looked good except my ALK came back at around an 8,which is strange since I'm using Coral Pro Salt. Only thing I can think of is that my AWC station has been offline for a few days due to cleaning. If that is true then my swap to a different salt won't be as bad as expected.

Not a lot to report. The blue hippo tang has gone missing. I'm guessing he went into the overflow box which I cannot get too. He was always swimming by the openings. Everyone is doing great, corals are growing. I am changing salts... yes my tank is great, but my AWC station equipment was suffering from the precip that comes with the coral pro salt. I've decided to go with Tropic Marine Pro and buffer my Alk to just above 10 with soda ash. Hoping for a smooth transition, I change about 3gal a day so it should be a slow process.

Pics to follow in the morning

I'm seriously slacking on the pictures... I will get to it eventually I promise.

On a side note today was the first AWC with Tropic Marine Pro in the mix. Ordered up a hanna checker for Alk so I can test regularly and not have to read ml in a syringe or when colors change. It can get confusing. I've got soda ash mixed up and ready to go since I like to keep a higher alk, but we'll see how everything responds with the slow change. Corals look great and new batch of fish in the works. Thanks to my two followers for sticking around :p

Next batch of fish have been introduced to the display...

5 sapphire damsels
1 bicolor blenny
1 longnose hawkfish

1 clown goby didn't survive shipping, but was refunded by live aquaria as usual.

I haven't seen the hawkfish eat but he seems happy. I've been feeding Reef Frenzy, Rods Fish Blend, Krill, Rotifers... anyone have any recommendations or am I just missing it? #reefsquad

My Geometric Pygmy Hawk seemed to really only go after pods. The only food I added that piqued his interest was frozen mysis. If I left the flow on, he seemed enthralled by the chase. The mysis in the flow always got a response from him.
