I'm thinking of setting up a Peninsula tank in the new place as I would love to be able to view the tank from 3 sides. I've always really loved the look of it but I do wonder what type of things do I need to consider when setting up a Peninsula style tank that you don't normally think of with a regular aquarium. Let's talk about it!

1. What type of things do I need to consider when setting up a Peninsula style tank that you don't normally think of with a regular aquarium?

2. How many of you have one, had one, or want one?

Thankfully i did have a stud, but also, there is VERY little weight to this setup. If you are having trouble finding a stud add another set of wires in the middle and use some heavy duty command strips.
Also, primes wouldn't weigh near as much as a 60" ATI 8 bulb with 1-2 XHO strips I would believe. But the fishing line idea was cool as well. I was going to go 80/20 and make a floating one similar like everyone else is doing but that is going to run a lot on unnecessary equipment if this one will do. It isn't a permanent build and just temporary until I get a new house. Did you find those parts at Lowes/Home Depot?

I love mine! I had always wanted one, and my new place had a perfect wall to build into, that basically just lengthens the hallway a bit and separates the living and dining room a bit more.

I have solved the flow problem, which I had done on a smaller scale on a traditional front view tank. I run a close loop pump and run the line along the top rim to the front top. I have other built in closed loop pumps along the bottom on the back wall as well. This allows for a ton of flow and turbulence.

This also allows me to keep the front viewing as clean and unobstructed as possible.

I live in a town of 700. The closest home depot is about a 2 hour drive away. A small mom and pop hardware store had more than enough to build it!

The tank itself is 2’ wide, 21.5’ tall, and 4’ long. There’s a false sump about 5” inside where I have 2 closed loops (one pump for the two outlets along the bottom, and one pump for the two outlets that are along the top edge in front) and the bean animal drains for the sump.

The cabinetry is as follows: sump area is 42” tall, and the hood is 22” tall.
