Looks amazing Perry!
Thank you very much :)

Looking great! Mangroves can be touchy at first, fresh water misting, no leaves touching saltwater, etc... Have you thought about sea grass or halimeda? In the 90's I had a display fuge with caulerpa and two types of halimeda that was pretty cool. I do like red gracilaria though.
Probably my impatience, but I think this is probably a better direction for nutrient control. Hoping to catch some live mysis from my 20 gallon to seed the fuge. Anyway, I got the red gracilaria locally, so that's cool, and a nice chunk to boot. So far, on reverse photo period, I am now seeing 7.9 ph at low, and 8.2 ph high, but I think the gap will tighten, and the high point will increase in time.

Acros are growing out well already Perry!
Hi Tim,
Hard to see in the pic, but yeah, corals are growing at a good rate, mostly mini-colonies now, at least by old school standards, lol ;)

BC Mondo Rainbow
While this one is a SLOW grower, it is coloring nicely. It's a tricky tenuis, haven't documented this one yet, but I believe it's a sleeper :) My collection of tenuis is relatively small. SC OP, BigR Walt Disney, JF Blow Torch, CC Pink Highlighter, and this BC piece.

How does that Banana Lokani look Perry? I remember having a yellow "Suharsonoi" back in 2005 and I wonder if it's the same thing. It was one of those corals I'm surprised is not extremely popular.

Hey Tim,
Funny you mention that piece, I actually was hunting that same very piece, but Tim had this one, and I remember it from way back being kinda similar :)
I love the smoothies!!!

Edit: Tim, I think smoothies will become the elite part of acro keeping in the future. I am still looking for the ORA Dustins Deepwater and the Grafted Simplex...

I totally agree my favorite has always been the true (not hawkins) A. echinata. There are so many others that look amazing loripes, granulosa, etc. I think it's really too bad how many of these "old school" smoothies are hard to find or lost in the hobby. FragFarmer had a "FragFarmer echinata" that I would love to find again and the purple monster you would think should be everywhere by now.

A few more from today looking good. I photo the heck out of the JD, but dang, got to, it's so freaking amazing!

That JD is looking very nice! I just picked up a frag of that myself

Awesome!
I am fortunate to have acquired from Tim aka therman. I have a fellow hobbyist buddy that is trying to move a 6x6" colony that's absolutely fire, and so very tempted to snatch it up, lol. I will probably pass, but if it ends up in the wrong hands, could over-saturate the local market for that piece. Hmmm.... decisions, decisions...
Thanks for looking in on the journal :)

I am fairly certain these holy grail smoothies are still out there, but likely rebranded :( I agree, a "real" echinata is a hard find, and tricky one to keep. Tim is currently collecting obscure smoothies, and I am on the list for many as they become available. Excited for the Peng's Cherry Tip Granulosa! My emphasis will be smoothies and millis moving forward!
Cheers my friend!!!

So funny to see a coral that expensive in the same photo frame as quite possibly the cheapest SPS in the hobby :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes: (Digitata). I love it! Lol

Not sure what the price is on it but wow! That’s a lot of potential frags!

Correct, so tempted just to keep it obscure, lol, and not fall in the hands of a "chopper". Either way, that colony, in the wrong hands, well... you know the rest, this is a tricky coral, and doesn't always work for even the best dedicated reefer. In my case, I chalk it up to luck ;)
All the best! Tim and BC are my go to sources for corals :)

I think you should just pony up the dough and buy that JD. Then, you can post regular pics of it. That way we can all live vicariously through you.

With regards to the Mr. Neutron, yours looks awesome. Mines over a yaar old and hasn't done squat. Maybe I should contact Adam and request a replacement, since mine was a dud. ;)

How about getting on that speciosa train? Gonna be the new tenuis here before long
