What are these bugs that are eating my birdsnest? I dipped in Coral RX when I acclimated a couple weeks ago and am going to dip again. They don’t seem to be red bugs but are rather black. What’s the course of action if that doesn’t work?

You can read articles on this site written by someone that is way more knowledgeable than me. But flatworms 101 dip coral and look for eggs. If you find eggs scrape them off. Use flatworm exit or flatworm RX on the QT tank. Then observe for about a month.

Nothing there that looks like flatworms to me but i may he missing it. I would say "red" bugs(some varieties are black)
Should I begin treating for redbugs then? Or is it different due to them being slightly different?

I would do a dip in the coralrx and see what pests fall out then its easier to figure out how to treat the problem

From what i see in pic i think more likely those are just dead/dying polyps and not a bug. Might be something i am missing in pics, but does not look like a pest to me.

Planaria flatworms. Dip may not work, however siphoning them up with a 3/8" tube into a nylon stocking will remove them . Another option is addition of a wrasse such as yellow coris, 6 lined, lunare or melanurus which will eat them
Final option- Salifert flatworm exit. Be sure to siphon dead ones daily which can release toxins

I keep getting answers all over the place, I’m going to first try dipping them weekly, scrubbing the plugs with a toothbrush, blowing them off with water and siphoning anything dead off.

I don’t really want to go the fish route as it’s meant to be a coral qt only tank, to prevent pests and things such as ich reaching my display. Having the fish in there can give ich a host. Thanks for the advice!

This is precisely why I was asking about movement. When my birdsnest gets a bit too irritated like during water changes, some polyps will retract and shut tight, forming what looks like tiny black dots. They honestly look exactly like in the pictures provided.
