Here’s a photo update of how the tank currently sits.

This is to be the zoa rock. Just have 3 on there right now. From top to bottom, volcano, fire and ice, and ghoul zoa. Just out of frame below/front of the rock I just got some new zoa frags waiting to be glued on. Those include goblins on fire, utter chaos, Rasta, fruit loops, and another ghoul

On an aqua rocks magnetic shelf I have a proximo acro, that seems to be dead. :( a space invader chalice, and a TCK yellow tip tort

Here is an aqua velvet acro from WWC that has begun to encrust on the rock!

Here we have a yoda acro and a mystic sunset monti. Haven’t seen any growth from these two yet

Here’s my aussie slimer acro I’m most excited about. And a forest fire digitata monti that I accidentally broke but both pieces seem to be doing okay. Also one of my ocellaris clownfish has started to turn black!

On an aquarocks sand bed frag rock I have a number of frags. Mostly favias and a TCK Blue valida acro. As well as my valentini puffer.

Here we have “Richard” the royal dottyback. He can be a real Dick to the other fish sometimes, hence the name. So far nothing serious, he’s just a butt

Hidden under his rock, is Coffey the orange spotted blenny. Named after John Coffey from the green mile. He’s the biggest or longest fish in the tank but scared of everything. You can also see a tiny bit of red from the Japanese pistol shrimp above his head to the left.

Nice setup. I like the minimalist look. Will you be transferring any sps from this tank to your new tank?

Thanks! I think I’ll leave the SPS that are in this tank. Gives me reason to buy more coral! Lol.

Also, it’s kind of experiment to see how well these lights work for SPS. I had a recent comment on FB about my aussie slimer growth photo where someone said they didn’t think these lights could do “hard corals”. So I’d like to see how well they do as they seem to be fine right now.

Sad news, my orange spotted blenny died out of the blue. Was doing my usual attendance count in the morning and found he’d passed and was under the arch. Not sure why either, he had plenty of algae to eat in the bed. Parameters were all normal as well. Other fish and corals are doing great. RIP Coffey.
His buddy the Japanese Pistol Shrimp has actually moved over to the arch and is burrowing where I found Coffey.

Disclaimer, This has worked for me. I am not saying anyone should do this. I have not checked my tank in the last 2 years. I did when I first started out but found myself constantly chasing the numbers. I go by how my corals are doing. I usually change 5 gallons a week. I feed the fish every day and the corals twice a week. This has worked well for me on my nano tanks.
Disclaimer: I too do not chase the #, never have except when tanks were new. I am in almost 3 weeks now, downsized from a 90 gallon, used the water, the roc, and the corals. Plus 6 fish. I did lose 3 fish. I still have 3 left. At this time I am checking ammonia, nitrates and nitrates, every couple days.

Two month growth update on my WWC Aussie Slimer!
173AE5B5-BE93-4679-8965-A08AF35B0DD8.jpeg

this thing is growing like crazy! Wish I could say the same about my other corals. They seem to be doing fine. Just not the same growth rate as this one.
Also dealing with a green hair algae problem. Been dosing Vibrant for awhile and added to the CUC. They seem to be managing it.
Aside from that, the tank is doing well. Have a lot of corals waiting to go into the new XL300 that’s currently cycling.
