PO4 was 0.25 and NO3 was 20 last week so I ran GFO in a reactor for a few days then removed it and it dropped the PO4 to 0.0 measured with a Nyos test kit. Yesterday after a 18% water change the PO4 is still 0.0 and NO3 is 12. Ive been trying to increase feedings to twice a day bump up the phosphate.

GFO is very powerful, you really need to understand how it effects your tank for proper usage.

If I need to lower PO4 a bit, I start with only a tablespoon or 2 mixed in with my carbon in a reactor. You would be surprised how much that little bit will pull down phosphates. I can go from .2 to .07 with only 3 tablespoons in an 85G system. This is way lower then the recommended amount to use for my system.

I will also go on to say, the NYOS kit is OK, but to get a real understanding on how low your PO4 level really is, the hanna ULR will measure way lower then the NYOS kit can.

All I'm saying is your 0.0 may not actually be 0.0 with the NYOS kit.
