Photon v2+ on a 40 gal breeder tank

I know this is a long dead thread but in currently figuring out my lighting for a 40 breeder. They are liquidating these fixtures. I’m going for a mixed reef with maybe the most light demanding corals being digis and bird nest. Would I get enough coverage with this fixture?

I used one over a 40b and did not have the ability to hang it or mount it more then approx 6-8” and it did not cover the ends. I traded in for photon 32 and it was great for my purpose. Probably overkill. But I again I had to mount low and couldn’t raise it for proper spread to take place.

The folks above seem to have great results with 11” mounting height

I run a photon 48 over my main tank at 11” and love the spread. I’m sure my issues with the 24 on a 40b were from mounting too low

I think you responded to me the other day possibly about this fixture. They are 100 off at aquacave im gonna pull the trigger, i know they are a bit dated but the price per par can’t be beat. I will mess with the mounting height.

More than capable just put it 11-12” and I think you’ll be happy

i know ive been debating on getting a meirdian for my 30" lagoon but also tempted by just getting the old photon 24"for 200 less ..i do like the ability to have the articulating mount for the bars.

Well they are starting to disappear I just bought the second to last one on aquacave. They have them marked down to 512 bucks
