Looking for your opinions on this scape.

This will be a mixed reef tank with a handful of tangs and other active fish. LPS and softies with maybe some SPS towards the top eventually. Tank dims are 36x18x20. And what you see in the pic are 5 similar sized pieces of caribsea life rock. About 40 lbs in total weight.

I’ll be starting my 4 month cycle soon after I add sand and get the fuge set up and want to have a good scape idea first.

I’d like you thoughts on how you think it looks, what you would do differently and why, more or less rock? I know most of this is personal preference since my fuge will be properly lit and will be the primary nutrient reduction method so I’m not too worried about total rock surface area. I just don’t want to have any regrets later down the road with this scape as I grow in to the tank more and more over time.

Thanks!

It looks like you have good places for fish to swim through and around, places to put corals, and space between the rock and the glass. The rest is largely personal preference as you mentioned. My only concern is with your comment about "a handful of tangs". Although they will be fine in a 56g tank initially when they're small, make sure that you have a transition plan as they outgrow your tank.

Make sure you can get an algae scraper between the front glass and rocks. I like the setup.

pretty tight clearance with the scraper, but it works. as for the tangs, I can exchange them for smaller tangs once they become too large.

thanks for the input! i'll proceed with this set up.

Overall I like it...but I don't like how it is very symmetrical. Both arches, which are the same size, meet exactly in the middle. If I had any suggestions, it would be to move the whole structure left or right, and maybe increase the height of one of the arches by one rock or so. All just my opinions of course lol....if you like it, that is what matters :)

Agreed with above. Too symmetrical for me. I prefer one higher side and one lower side but all that matters is what you like.

I like th look of the open space. I would add one small rock to each side toward the back to fill the empty space on either side of the overflow housing
