With a little effort, you can get an ok pic with a clear ruler, but at an angle like the last pic is impossible to tell. Need to move the phone lower/change angle.

Yes, try to take a pic straight on, level to the coral, and the ruler straight up.
I use my glass cleaner to hold my camera flush to the glass. Do all my focusing and white balance and snap the pic.

I was struggling with this like crazy, then I discovered that if you have a relatively modern Canon Camera (and probably others) you can get an app for your phone which allows you to trigger the camera and see the live view right on your phone. So I can set the camera on a tripod, get it pointed the right general direction, then hold the ruler from the side, view the image on the phone and trigger the picture. It takes a bit to get the camera connected to the phones wifi and everything but it works really well.

Dang some of y’all are getting excellent color. I’ll try to get mine in tonight. I’m thinking mine just doesn’t like me. Not seeing much growth or color (other than brown) but it still appears to have skin. If it’s more of a blue light special Acro, I may not see much color under my halides

My pic isn't showing color either. In person, it's tinted green from the base to half way up. Not much growth at all with mine and I'm hoping it's because of my mishaps.
Crossing fingers it starts growing soon.

I wouldn't say that's it a blue light dependent acro. The picture I took is under heavy whites and is very close to what it looks like in person. It may just need more time cookin'.

I'm wondering what this will do...it should be interesting

I was going to wait a few more days but I see they are all rolling in already, here's mine it seems to be doing much better now, it didn't like my low nutrients at first along with the shipping stress, but I got it to fall in line.

(It's tricky getting pictures with the raging current and two left hands ;) )
