My mandarin in my nano tank eating FROZEN shrimp!

This dude is the best. He's been in my Biocube 29 gallon for around 3-4 months now.

Great pics! I have a target, one of my favorite fish. Mine will eat frozen and pellets also. It seems that more and more I read about mandarin eating frozen and pellet.

I read somewhere that larger mandarins will take to frozen easier. It didn't take me long to train him at all.

I've trained mine as well. Pretty easy to do. Just takes a little time. I have 2 right now, and both will take frozen and pellets. Just need a breeder basket, live brine, and time.

Quote from Matt Wittenrich's article: http://en.microcosmaquariumexplorer.com/wiki/Breeding_the_Green_Mandarin
"The best method in my opinion was developed by Matt Pedersen of MOFIB . The idea is quite simple. Isolate new mandarins in suspended breeder baskets (or small quarantine tanks) and get them feeding on enriched live brine shrimp. Then, introduce frozen brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. After the fish begin sampling the frozen fare the live diet is slowly replaced. Once they are eating frozen fare with vigor they are released into the display tank where their "training" pays off. "

I noticed not too long ago that my mandarin eats frozen as well, mysis anyways. It's probably great for the tank because I'm much more motivated to go through the extra hassle of frozen now that I know I can bulk him up.
