I use 12 hours blue with 4 hours ab+ in the middle and reefbrites for 6 hours. I switched not to long ago to G6 blues and reefbrites.

That's how they come off my camera all I do is sharpen them and add a little vignette

I thinks it's a balance of flow, lighting, and food for the corals. If they have particles in the water to grab during the light period then I believe they open up.
