Please critic my aquascape design before I start gluing.

The first picture is my tank (excuse my drawing)

Try to picture the rocks cape in the 2nd picture on the left side

and try to picture the rock structure in the 2nd picture on the right side of my tank.

the tip of the right rock structure will start behind the end of the structure on the left to add depth.

I built my scape out side of the tank with the tank dems mapped out and for height I used PVC I really like this method as it lets you get a bit more creative.

as for you general layout I dig it. however it pulls you eyes right in to the center not sure that was your goal? I say start glue and see what you come up with and if you like it you can cement it.
good luck!

i totally see what you mean. I think I need to space it out and only let the tip of the 2nd rock go behind the left structure

I started some tonight. Only took me 2 hours and it wasn’t even that difficult! I’m excited to continue working on it tomorrow.

The best video on reef aquascaping I have found is this one... about freshwater aquascaping. You can't apply all the techniques he's talking about, but the main principles are there.

I just threw the rocks in and then threw the fish and corals in;) and ended up with a big cluster, so don't have an opinion on yours but if YOU like it then that's good enough.

A friend of mine had exactly this design for many years. Until one day it crashed.
What survived, he transferred to another tank.
Detritus accumulated in the sand under the stones was the reason for this.
Just keep in mind.

I dont really worry about things like that just because I've never really had a"tankcrash" (where most everything dies) in 35+ years. How exactly somebody can say a "tank crash" occurred because of detritus build up with all the different variables that are involved in keeping a reef tank thriving is hard to imagine as the actual cause. If that was the case all my different tanks I've had should have all "crashed and died" at some point in there lifetime. Just want to add I don't do water changes and it's been 4.5+ years since one in my current reef tank.
