Last week I noticed my Coral Beauty's left eye was cloudy, milky, and swollen. I moved her to a QT tank and started dosing FURAN2. I did 4 days of FURAN-2 and did 25% WCs every 2 days. I waited a day then dosed Kanaplex to the tank, first dose almost 48 hours ago. I came home to find her vertical and bobbing up and down. She is moving but won't go horizontal. While her eyes look better, she seems to have gotten worse. Any ideas?

Can you post a pic? How is the fish’s respiration rate (count the gill beats in 15 seconds and multiply by 4). Have you given the fish a FW dip?

Sounds like the fish is suffering from swim bladder disease. When this occurs, a fish is unable to regulate the air that’s going in and out of their swim bladder and may swim either upwards or on their side in an attempt to regulate it.

Causes are typically:
  • Bacterial infection
  • Parasitic infection
  • Stress/rapidly changing water parameters
  • Poor water quality
