I'm not sure what it is. I sent her to the lfs for my cus I had knee surgery and ask her to pick up a frag along with essentials I needed. So she got this guy and I'm not sure what it is. Please help ID and explain care to me like placement, flow and lighting. Thanks so much!!

I personally havent kept this exact species, but I would assume that it is similar to other acans. I keep my acan in lower light under an overhang (I have LEDs and it is approximately 16" under the water). It gets medium to low flow in my tank. Most Lps dont like higher flow like sps do imo.

Oh ok I kinda put it towards the top on a rock thinking it needed lots of light. How would it do on the sandbed like under an over hang I have? I only have polyps, zoas and mushrooms up to now so I guess this is probably the most challenging coral I've had so far.

This is my tank it's a biocube 29 and so far I've been very successful at keeping things. It's been running for 6 month now. You can see tha Acan in the middle right above the clown. Any suggestion where you think would be an optimal place to put it?

i like to start my corals low and then work them up to get them acclimated to the light. I would start him on the sand in the front. Maybe a little towards the cave but not too much. Then after a week or so start moving him up a little more every few days. Maybe on to one of the rocks on the right, and then up back to where he is now. if he shows signs of being stressed put him on the sand and leave him be for a while. most lps benefit from being fed, but it isnt required. My acan picks up left over fish food.

its usually not a big deal, but it helps with reducing stress. If he seems o.k. and doesnt lose color or look bad, I would leave him

Echinata...which is short for the other ids given already. Some of those get some crazy colors under different lighting. I've seen some turn pink under MH and the same colony turn orange and gray under t5s.
