Is it bacterial or parasitic infection or could it be benign?

May be neither. Generally this represents a n internal parasite in which prazi pro would be the treatment but it can also be the foods it eats
By chance are you feeding the fish mysis shrimp or brine shrimp or both?
If so, reduce that and feed flakes, LRS reef frenzy and small pellets such as new era

Thanks I am feeding pe mysis flakes and pe mysis pellets. Is this possibly the issue?

Idk how it could be parasites I've already dosed the hell out of their QT tank with prazi and metro in the recent past but maybe not enough.

Mine did then when got them and I was also concerned. I just watched them and it went away on it's own... they're still alive and well. Sometimes a white stringy poop is just a white stringy poop.

Good likelihood why I suggest adding other foods. Color will change in addition to providing adequate diet
Also, spirulina brine shrimp is good
