Hi Folks,

Got this fish 1 month back. When I got it there was no issue. While in Qt it developed cloudy eye. I treated it with kanaplex and prazipro but nothing changed.

Decided to put it into display. It's been in display but it has started looking worse. I thought maybe it will recover overtime. It's definitely not a injury. Photos attached, left eye is okay but right is bad. It's like some sort of gel or fluid is inside the eye. Fifth image for comparison with other eye. I'm not sure if this is Pop eye.

Can someone please advice how to treat this. Thanks in adavnce.

Thanks, but I think if it was fluke prazi would have resolved it.
Welcome to Reef2Reef!

That is actually a gas embolism. When it is seen in both eyes (and bubbles in the the fins), it is usually from a super saturation event. When seen in a large eyed species, like this soldierfish, and only in one eye, it is caused by trauma. There is no infective agent here, so there is no treatment other than time. Not all fish recover, and many that do, lose their eye. The trauma often comes from handling the fish during moves and transport, but can also be from an unknown cause.

Here is an article I wrote on fish eye health:
