Hello mate :
I have my tank 100 gallon reef , and I have friend want to sell his live rock because he shuts down his tank , it's very healthy rocks full of Caroline algea ,
So I did change all my rocks with this new live rocks , and I take his sand bed also ,
I cleaned the sand little bit , and I replace the rocks and the sand in my tank ,
I kept around 25% from my old water and every thing done .
All my coral in QT tank temporary to check water parameter tomorrow.
Just any case any changing in parameters what is ur suggestion because I can't keep coral and fish out of the tank .
Ur suggestion plz .and thanks in advance

i think if im right you might start a new cycle with all that new rock and new sand bed. :/ not too sure tho dont add any coral back in your tank for a few days to a week.

But the rocks keep wet and sand also , from my experience I know live rock and live sand will not start cycle because its full of bacteria .
I hope not cycle tank .
Any one do that before ?

You should be fine. Its the messing up of the substrate that usually causes mini cycles, but you should still be fine, provided all that rock doesn't have a bunch of die off.

That all what I wish my buddy , thx every time for ur supporting .
Really I'm full satisfied of aqua escaping and the new sand .
I hope I can start now in the correct direction .
Any more experience for ant one did the same issue ?
And I'm thinking also about the exhibition , so they bring with them live rock and sand and they set it up for a while with no issue ,
I hope I'm correct and have no issue

I've done it actually a couple times. Never lost anyone from doing it. Never ran into a cycle with it either.

I started it over with all new water. None used from the old set up.

A typical healthy sand bed contains an incredible number of soft-bodied organisms -- all of which get squished and die when a sand bed gets moved.

A relatively dead sand bed has mostly just bacteria in it. Any bare sand will be "live" like this within days or weeks when placed in your tank.

Generally I don't think either of those sand beds would be worth moving to a new tank. But that is assuming replacement sand is desired (I would not) and that replacement sand is reasonably priced (it is near me). If anything - say you knew there were desirable organisms in his sand - I would have taken a cup or so of sand from that tank along with a bag of water and seeded your tank/sand with that.

YMMV on all points. :) I hope the new(/old) sand bed works out OK without causing any ammonia issues!!
