Hi. All. I had Pocillopora that I bought from a friend a few weeks ago. It was doing ok for a while and now it is completely bleached white in just 2 days. To be fair I did make some adjustments mainly to magnesium a few days ago and I’m thinking that’s what did it. Let me explain... 2 weeks ago my parameters were
Ph 8.2
Calcium 400
KH 11.2
Salinity 1.026
Mag 1077
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
I felt that the Mag was a little low so I purchased the 2 part BRS powders to make the Mag adj solution. I used the BRS calculator to make the adjustment I was shooting for 1400. I used the Salifert test kit to measure and I followed the calc to achieve the results. 2 days ago. And woke up this morning to the coral completely white. I tested my tank using Saliferts kits and these are the params this morning
Ph 8.0
Calcium 450
KH 11.5
Salinity 1.026
Mag 1500
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
does anyone think that changes in the Mag and calcium that much in 2 days would have caused this. My lighting has not changed ( I use 2 AI primes running an AB+ BRS schedule) and my temps are set by inkbird controller at 80 degrees
i have 2 photos of the Pocillopora one is taken last week and one taken this morning
