I thought I had a decent background population, until I unfortunately had to go fallow; abrogated my quarantine process, but that is another thread.

Within a week the size and variety of the pods on the glass late in the evening were stunning

So I suspect you all have a healthy/thriving pod-o-sphere in your tank, that are getting eaten whenever they show themselves

1. Do you actively see "pods" in your reef aquarium? None, a little, a lot?
No - Never
2. Do you care if you have "pods" in your tank or not?
My guess is that I have a lot of natural food and things I don't see - since I don't tend to feed my fish that much (as compared to what I read here) - and they are all fat and healthy. So - my guess is that they are 'there' - just eaten immediately when they come out.

We went on a vacation some time ago (years) - leaving our house in the care of a teenager. we were gone for 10 days or so - and I had set out (in the freezer) the amount of food to feed in little bags each day. When we returned - the food was all in the freezer. The fish were fine just as plump and doing well as when we left. My son said 'oh I didn't understand'. Thats another story...

See them in my HOB refugium, never in my DT. I never bought any, and they showed up in my refugium, so they must exist in my DT.
My sixline wrasse and Efli angel pick at the rock constantly, so they must still be there.
I have a FOWLR tank.

Today let's talk copepods, amphipods, pods in general and more specifically should you see them active in your reef tank! "Let’s just get this straight: Copepods are always a good thing to have in an aquarium. First, they do absolutely no harm. In fact, because their favorite food is stuff like suspended particulate matter, detritus, and film algae, they add punch to your clean-up crew. They are also an excellent, natural, nutritious food source for corals and small reef fish." - AlgaeBarn

I see a bunch of amphipods in my tank now hopefully it has not decimated my copepod population... Not sure if I should have gone with the pod package from IPSF.

Here's a photo of a big boi

I see a few but not in DT just in sump area. I stock it monthly with new tig and tisbe pods but btw. my blue mandarin and scooter blenny they pick it clean in no time. Amphipods...DT used to be chuck full then saw my file fish eating them anytime he spotted one or when I clean tank/sand bed.
