I had to vote "I dont live in an apartment" due to being a home owner. However I have rented plenty of apartments in the past. I had a 20g reef, 29g reef, 55g fresh water, 6g reef, 55g reef all while renting apartments. Keep in mimd some apartments have a limit on tank size and may require you to have renters insurance that covers water damage.

I’ve lived in three separate apartments, none of which had a problem with aquariums, luckily. I now live in a one bedroom apartment on the 40th floor of a building in Chicago (concrete floors) and have a 90 gallon tank with 40 gallon sump. Management loves the tank, ever since I showed them what it looks like in person :)

I got the butterfly fish and trigger for my birthday on the island of Kauai! And I got the awesome turtle in cripple creek Colorado of all places! My brothers wife’s parents live in Kauai so I frequent a couple times a year! They have a whole bunch of work for sale I will see if I can get you a link! The fish are made by a local artist with native woods of Kauai.

I have a 60 gallon reef and a freshly crashed 30
gallon in my third floor unit. Saving for a house because of course I always want a larger tank

I live in an appartment. The rule with moving in was limit of 10g of water. After showing the landlord how deep I am into the hobby he permitted a 20g... then another 20g.... then a 50g(which has been discontinued due to me moving soon) and now another 10g as of today. I have currently a total of 50g in my appartment and I couldnt be happier. When I move into my new house i will have 3 more 20g and a 60g cube

I dont live in an apartment, but i used too as a kid. I knee a guy who lived in the same apartments abd he had a 180 galllon aquarium in it lol.. it was bottom level though.

I live in a townhouse so i have 3 levels.. My 135g is on the 3rd level in my bedroom. And its running parralell to the joists.... so sittkng on two joists right in thr middle of em too... both joists have load bearing beams on em but still.. It does scare me sometimes the way its positioned but so far nothing has happend and according to the water level in the tank left right front back it hasnt changed level either. I do have to put 3 shims stacked in a few rows on the left side of the tank though but i think the floor is just uneven. No cracked drywall or nails poping out downstairs so i see no deflection as least visually.

I want a 180g tank so i can have a 24 wide vs 18 wide 6 foot tank.. but i dunno man i think 135 is pushing it parralell. I could move the tank perpendicular so it sets on 5 joists right on the end right over a load bearing beam.. but itd block my window if i do that..

If i did live in an apartment.. Id get a big tsnk regardless of policy.. Id just have it crated to hide it and haul it up... Id make sure the seals werr good. Or redo them myself and i wouldnt stress over it.

Ive had one tank leak in my lifetime and it was a odd shaped pentagon. It leaked like 15 gallons on the floor that went thrpugh to the 2nd floor.. Issue was the tank was 10 years old and i didnt reseal it.

Now i reseal every tank i buy. Which reminds me.. my 92g corner bowfront needs resealed the bottom front seal is flappy if i touch it.. not good

IM SR 60 gallon on the third floor. I bought the stand for the SR 80 in order to spread the weight across more of the floor.

I am a home owner but I have a townhome and a Reefer 425XL on the second floor (105gallons roughly). I did made sure to run the tank perpendicular to the floor joists so that helps but I don't think its too much to be concerned about at 1000lbs personally.. The water damage could be massive but the weight itself idk

30gal fresh and 15gal reef in my 350 sq ft 1br (both moved from a 250 sq ft studio). I feel like the fish and I both have about the same amount of space to move around :D
